- The blood in the infamous shower scene is
actually chocolate syrup.
- Janet Leigh refused to take a shower like
the one in the movie, ever again, after she
did the famous shower scene. - Vic
Cherubini
- During the shower scene, the man dressed
up as norman's mother was not Anthony Perkins,
it was one of the last shots of the movie
and he was already gone for another film shoot.
- Jesse F.
- In the shower scene of the film, the reason
the actress is so scared and surprised is
that she actually is! For added effect, Hitchcock
apparently turned the water in the shower
to freezing cold when "Mrs. bates"
attacks her. That is supposedly why she feared
a similar shower again. - casamann
- Correction:
Well, that's what they claim at Universal
Studio's Tour, but I believe Janet Leigh
on the newest DVD extras. She outright
denies those claims of using cold water
since Hitchcock was a considerate and
gentle man - he looked out for her comfort
on the set. However, she did admit to
'Hitch' testing mother's final appearance
on Janet by surprising her in the dressing
room. He picked the one we see in the
film based upon her reactions. - Andrew
- In the famous shower scene neither Anthony
Perkins or Janet Leigh were there. This was
the last scene to be shot and Anthony Perkins
had left to do stage work and Janet Leigh
refused it. The actual person who kills Janet
Leigh's character was Mrs. Bates or the woman
who did the voice for her and the woman who
was killed was the body double. So the two
who were supposedly behind the most famous
shower scene ever weren't even there. - pat
- Correction:
Perkins didn't appear in the shower scene,
but Janet Leigh was certainly there. Again,
on the newest edition of the DVD, I think
they made it pretty clear that she was
involved for the majority of that scene.
They did have a model do some of the angles
that were more exposing than others, but
Leigh was certainly abundant. - Andrew
- Correction:
Actually the person holding the knife
in the shower scene is actually Hitchcock
making one of his trademark cameos! Cool
or what! - Alex
Rock
- Comment:
Hitchcock may have been holding the
knife for his 'Cameo' but I don't
think it was him because his 'Cameo"
was when she was leaving town with
the money Hitchcock was standing on
the corner and crossed the street
in front of her. I am not aware of
Hitchcock doing 2 cameos. (Source:

My Correction: Alex Rock you idiot!
Hitchcock himself did not stab the
woman in the shower. Not only do I
not know how you heard this, it is
completely wrong. Hitch filmed the
shower scene on an overhead crane
over the "shower". Also,
the body of the attacker and Hitchcock
are totally different. I will assume
you know that Hitchcock was a very
overweight man, unlike the skinny
attacker of the scene. (Source: TV

public saw a toilet in the bathroom on the
screen (big or small) - and flushed at that!

Ted Knight, who will later be known to the

It's Alfred Hitchcock. - Nate

road side hotels are still called hotels!
