- The blood spot on Kirk's tunic moves to
different areas.
- In the scene where the shuttle pod docks
with the Enterprise, what we see in the background
(the Enterprise in spacedock) is a re-use
of the footage from The first trek film. We
see a man in a spacesuit drifting outside
the enterprise in exactly the same way and
location as before- a mere coincidence? The
launching of the Enterprise is also exactly
the same footage. (It's also worth mentioning
that when the worm comes out of (blanks) ear
the camera clearly zooms in to a completely
fake one- shows up better in widescreen version)

- Just before Kirk, Spock and McCoy retire
to the Captains quarters, to view the Genesis
tape, Spock announces that their distance
from Regula 1 is "twelve hours, forty
three minutes, present speed", the speed
being warp 5, as instructed by Kirk. Assuming
it took a couple of hours to view the Genesis
tape and have their discussion, that would
still put them around 10 hours away, at the
time they were attacked by the Reliant. Just
after midshipman Peter Preston dies, Spock
calls and announces auxiliary power has been
restored and they may proceed on impulse power,
to which Kirk instructs "Best speed to
Regula". Since impulse power is less
than warp 1, they must be about 50 hours,
or more, away, yet Dr. McCoy, on finding the
dead bodies on Regula (which Captain Terrell
announces were killed before Khan attacked
the Enterprise) states "This couldn't
have happened too long ago Jim, Rigor hasn't
set in". Even in a controlled environment,
rigor sets in within a few hours. - Terry
- This goof takes place during the infamous
Spock death scene. When Kirk and Spock are
at opposite sides of the glass, Spock face
rubs against the glass and leaves a smudge
of his makeup on it. - Soulman

Goofs
- During the scene in the sick-bay when McCoy
was trying to save Scotty's nephew, after
he died, they cut Scotty short in his lines.
He said that he stayed at his post after the
other trainees ran. And he promised his sister
that nothing would happen to her only son....and
what was he going to tell her now. I saw this
in the theaters once and on one early VHS
release of the movie, but I have not seen
it since. It was right after this scene that
Kirk's blood stain moved around. - Lurker
- Comment: Scotty's
missing dialogue (after Peter Preston's
death) from Star Trek 2 has been restored
in the DVD Director's Cut. - Covenant
- At one point in the movie Khan recalls an
old Klingon proverb which relates that "revenge
is a dish that is best served cold."
If Khan was in suspended animation since the
1990's awakened by the Enterprise crew in
the 23rd century and marooned on Setti Alpha
V within a few days, how does he know about
Klingons and their proverbs? - Mike
- Comment: Actually,
Khan married Marla McGivers, the Historian
from the Enterprise. It is safe to assume
that they had many conversations before
she was killed by the Cetian Eel. - Jay
- In the Star Trek 2, early in the movie when
the Enterprise is leaving spacedock for the
first time. If you look in the lower left
corner you can see the shadow of the arm that
supports the Enterprise model. It cuts right
through the starfield and the spacedock background.
- Optimus
Prime
- Comment: Actually,
this movie goof should be directed at
Star Trek: The Motion Picture since this
effects sequence was lifted directly from
that film and not made by ILM for Trek
II at all. (Theatre/DVD) - BatJam
Corrected
Goofs
- Khan recognizes Chekov in the movie. The
episode Space Seed appeared on the first season.
The Chekov character didn't appear until the
second season. So Khan and Chekov could not
have met. - pat
- Explanation:
We can't assume that we see everything
that goes on in a story. Although Chekov
didn't appear on Star Trek until the show's
second season, it is actually possible
for him to have been a crew member of
the Enterprise during the events of the
"Space Seed" episode. He may
have worked in another department during
the first season, and was promoted to
the bridge for the show's second season.
He and Khan may have first met sometime
between "Space Seed" scenes.
- Michael
- Correction:
Walter Koenig himself came out and
stated the goof openly when the movie
aired on I think it was the SciFi
channel. What he commented on after
that, I have no idea. - Cren
- Correction:
Nicholas Meyer addresses this
in the audio commentary of the
special edition DVD also. This,
however, does not negate the explanation
offered by Michael that the "character"
of Chekov could have been on board
during the whole first season,
just not on screen. He very well
could have met Khan while he was
being given a tour of the Enterprise.
Movies and television don't show
every minute of the lives of the
characters. (DVD) - BatJam
