  • Airbags deflate in well under a second.
  • Atropine does not reverse any acid effects of nerve gas, but after the injection into his heart Goodspeed emerges from the hall with his skin unharmed.
  • Atropine is injected into the upper leg as it is too difficult to find the heart when affected by the gas.
  • An F/A18 flying over water at a speed of 575 knots and at an altitude of less than 110 feet would generate a 20 foot cloud of water due to the pressure waves from the engine exhaust.
  • In the helicopter on the way to Alcatraz, Lt. Shepard quickly loses the heatset he is seen to be putting on.
  • When the Navy Seal helicopters approach the drop zone, mission control labels their heading as "bearing 275'' (just north of west). Shortly thereafter they labeled as bearing due East for Alcatraz.
  • Mason and Stanley dry off too quickly after sheltering underwater from the firebombs.
  • The first lever that Mason flicks from his cell resets itself before he activates the second one.
  • When the air strike is called in, there are five fighters. As they fly under the Golden Gate Bridge, there are six. As Goodspeed holds up the flares, there are five again.
  • Goodspeed leaps to catch the rolling VX in his right hand, catches it in his left, then has it in his right again.
  • Disappearing needle and syringe when Goodspeed injects himself.
  • The plane which roles out of the hanger is a two seater F/A 18 Hornet, yet all aircraft in the flight squadron are single seaters.
  • The aircraft used to drop the thermite plasma are F-18s, a US Navy jet, but they have US Air Force markings as do the pilots flying them.
  • The FBI states that the first rocket was headed for Oakland, yet can be seen heading for Candlestick Park, on the other side of the Bay.
  • When the Humvee crashes into the meter-maid vehicle, it skids and goes sideways. In the next shot, it is still pointed straight down the street.
  • The wheel on the motorcycle that Goodspeed is riding can be seen stationary momentarily.
  • Final scene obviously not filmed in Kansas.
  • How can Mason be imprisoned in Alcatraz in 1962 for stealing files about the Kennedy Assassination (November 1963)? (November 22, 1963 at 12:30 pm CST to be exact) Easily: the film supports the rumour that Kennedy was assassinated by a government agency, and there existed confidential documents in 1962 about the upcoming assassination.
  • When entering Alcatraz, Mason jumps through wheels and flames to get into the building. He said he had to learn the sequences when he escaped in the 60s. But as soon he's inside Alcatraz he opens a door from the inside. Why didn't he escape through this door in the 1960? Because in the 1960s, when Alcatraz was a prison, that door would not have been unlocked.

  • In the bathroom when the SEALs shoot back one of them has their gun on safety. - B.Clinton(AJ)
  • When the SEALS are going under water to ho into Alcatraz, the water is way to clear to be the actual water of that part of the ocean. - Vic Cherubini
  • When Mason (Sean Connery) is driving the Humvee he runs into a truck with water bottles in the back. From the inside of the Humvee, you can see that the windshield is cracked, then in the next shot it is fine. - film_threat
  • When Goodspeed (Nick Cage) is driving the Ferrari, he drives through the window of a garage and you can see from the inside that the windshield is broken, and in the next shot it is fine. - film_threat
  • When Goodspeed (Nick Cage) is driving the Ferrari, he drives over several parking meters and you can see the windshield is cracked, and in the next shot it is fine. - film_threat
  • Tell me something, when Nicholas Cage and Sean Connery are captured in the movie and placed in their respective cells why was there nothing in N.C's cage and yet in S.C's cage it was full of implements to allow him to make something to help them escape. I doubt the movie would have had such a dramatic ending if there cells were reversed! - Raef
  • When Alcatraz is finally blown up you see stanly goodspeed flying through the air with the explosion behind him. It is one of the most intense scenes in movie history but then I saw the cables holding him up. It's easier to see if you put it in slow motion. - Joe Toler
  • Before Goodspeed starts fighting the crazy Lieutenant he slips the last orb of VX into his chest pocket. But throughout the fight the CL is punching him in the chest and they roll around on the ground alot. Wouldn't the blows to the chest break the orb, since it is so easily broken in the beginning? Nice one Nic!! - ManiacMovieMan45
  • When Sean Connery is fighting a Marine near the end of the film, the Marine says something along the lines of 'My father was Irish, you English bastard' before punching him, and Connery's character (born in Glasgow) doesn't take offense! - stumpy
  • Just after the scene where Ed Harris is shot, there is a scene where Sean Connery is firing a machine gun. If you look closely you can see a cameraman running in the background. - Steve
  • At the start of the movie when Goodspeed and Marvin Isherwood are in the FBI lab trying to diffuse the serien gas bomb, when Goodspeed first walked into the chamber he stated his name, etc. he said that the time was 9:00am. However in the background you can see a clock that says the time is around 4:15. - Steve
  • I have visited Alcatraz and I can tell you from experience more than half of those rooms didn't exist and the cells in which the hostages were kept couldn't possibly house more than two people. - Scott Mercer
  • (Revealing mistakes) When Godspeed steals the Ferrari, he puts it in 3rd (instead of 1st) and drops the clutch. I work for a Ferrari dealership, and you CAN'T take off like that launching a 355 in 3rd. (VHS/DVD) - Chris
  • (Revealing mistakes) When the seals are about to go into the water, they all say all clear, one bloke already has his breathing apparatus in his mouth and has to repeat it twice.
  • (Factual errors) Why is the crew chief directing the moving, running F-18 when you can see the towbar on the nose wheel? If someone is pulling it, no need for engine run or crew chief telling him where to go. - racing20
  • (Revealing mistakes) In the movie when Mason (Sean Connery) and Goodspeed (Nicolas Cage) reach the first rocket there is a combat scene. The last of the guy was killed by Mason by shooting a huge suspended metal safe. The metal safe is dropped on the poor guy. Of course he is instantly dead. In the next scene the camera moves to Goodspeed and just before the view reaches him we can see the guy with the safe on him. His legs are moving. Is he back from the dead? - sidhu
