Debated Goofs - Commented Goofs - Corrected Goofs - Explained Goofs

  • In the Waterberry Open, on the first hole, Happy's opponent tees off and it shows nothing but fairway and a little water. But when Happy tees off, his ball goes over trees and a couple of water hazards. - Tre'
  • In some scenes, you can see indentations in the grass so that the balls will go into the holes. - David
  • During the panning shot of the Championship you can clearly see a VW Bug crashed into a tower even though the crash scene hasn't happened yet. - DarthSexual
  • When Happy is driving his grandma to the retirement home, an old lady jumps on the car hood and Happy has a surprised expression on his face and when the camera is on the old lady, she says "Get me outta here!" Look into the rear view mirror and you can tell by the look in Happy's eyes that he isn't surprised any more. When it shows a full view of Happy again he's surprised. - Nicko
  • When Happy is driving his grandma home and the lady jumps on the car you can clearly see that the grandma is trying no to laugh. - Tyler Durden
  • When Happy is trying to fix his grandma's air conditioner and it drops, you can see the wall surrounding it falls with it, but when it is on the mista, mista lady, it isn't there anymore. - MotocrossX
  • When Happy wrestles the alligator you can clearly see that the alligator has two eyes but when you see him up close he has one eye. (DVD) - blingblingblinger
  • In the scenes where Happy is driving, like on the first hole, he starts off in the morning. But when he is putting, on the same hole, the shadows obviously show that he is playing at dusk. That really bothered me! (VHS) - DoubleJ
  • During the beginning, when Happy is trying out for the hockey team, and he hits the puck and breaks the glass, the camera scans back to Happy, and then when it goes back to the glass, the glass isn't broken anymore! (VHS) - Andi
  • When Happy and his grandmother are at her room for the first time he puts a suit case under the bed when the camera goes back to the bed it is gone - bk
  • If that dude was distracting Happy so much (in the Bob Barker scene) why didn't they just ask him to leave? Golfers aren't supposed to be distracted while their playing. - Smiley
  • When Happy slams the door open to his apartment to race to the intercom to chat with his girl friend he doesn't close the door but when the Chinese women comes up she slowly opens the door. How strange! (VHS) - mr.bigglesworth
  • The credits say a golf course in Florida was used to film the movie. However in many of the tee shot scenes the crushed drive is framed by a majestic back drop of mountains (gorge walls, some sort of topographical relief). The last I checked the highest point in Florida is 345 feet above sea level. - cisco
  • (Continuity) When happy says "50 bucks says i can clear the highway." there is no highway in sight! (VHS) - rd2day
  • (Continuity) When Chubbs' hand gets run over it is completely crushed and in the next scene you see it, it is only missing a couple of fingers. (VHS) - rd2day
  • (Continuity) Probably the most noticeable goof in the movie at the beginning of the final tournament the VW bug has already crashed into the announcer's or cameraman's tower. However the Beetle doesn't appear until the 18th hole of that event and crashes then into the tower ... just bad editing.

Commented Goofs

  • This goof is an error in logic pertaining to the plot of "Happy Gilmore". If Happy has no money, then how does he put his grandma in a rest-home? Wouldn't it be easier if she lived with him? He could have saved the money it cost to put her in the rest-home, and put it towards buying back the house. - Poopy McSnappypants
    • Comment: In regards to Poopy Mcsnappypants, there was never a mention that Happy had no money. He just didn't have enough money to buy back the house. - DrEvil07
      • Comment: Even if there is no mention of Happy not having any money, the fact still remains that he wasted money on the rest-home when he could have saved that money to buy back the house. - Poopy McSnappypants
    • Comment: Hey, Poppy McWhatever And Dr whomever did you 2 ever think that the old lady had insurance that cover extended care? i.e. nursing home. - 'k
      • Comment: To 'k, I never thought of that, but remember that his grandma could have still lived with him, after she told him that the nursing home wasn't very nice ("Don't worry Grandma I'll get you out of here.") - Poopy McSnappypants
  • Other goofs pertaining to the plot include: an ex hockey player who can drive a golf ball 400 yards making it on the pro golf tour, Happy wrestling an alligator to death, Happy getting beat up by Bob Barker, a rule that forces Happy to putt for the championships even though a camera tower blocks his path...This movie is soooo fake, what a drag. - Big Moron
    • Correction: Big Moron, that name is very fitting. This movie was not made to make sense, it was made to be funny. Have you ever seen Billy Madison? Make sure you know what you're talking about next time. - DrEvil07
    • Comment: Hey Big Moron, do you even know what a goof is? If you don't like the movie, don't watch it. At least get a sense of humor beforehand. - Sandy

Corrected Goofs

  • When Happy makes a bet with one of the movers, its for $20 dollars. Then the mover makes it double or nothing. Happy wins the bet but the man only gives him two one dollar bills. - Tre'
    • Correction: check again. Its 2 twenties. - mbmott21
  • When Happy (Sandler) and shooter (McDonald) are in the bar, Happy buys a bottle of beer. Then he gets in a fight with shooter and smashes the bottle on the bar, BUT there isn't anything in the bottle. - [S]isq[o]
    • Correction: The bottle Happy grabbed was already there when he ordered his beer. - Hitman
  • Happy is kissing the lady on the ice rink and they flash to a shot of the ice rink guy singing "Endless Love" First of all the guy is lip sinking and it is really a girls voice and the version of "Endless Love" used by Mariah Carey and Luther Vandross was not made public until 1998 after the movie was made.
    • Correction: "Endless Love" is sung by Diana Ross and Lionel Ritchie, the version in the movie is not by Mariah Carey and whoever. The lip synching is a "joke." J-o-k-e, look it up... Insert quote from "Red Lobster" guy here. - Japhysun79
      • Correction: That is actually false. The original poster, who stated that Mariah Carey and Luther Vandross sung it, was correct. <Insert line from Red Lobster guy here>
  • When Happy is in the batting cages taking hits from the flying golf balls, Chubs unplugs the plug. The little boy then takes a hit from the golf balls too but the plug was never plugged back in. - homedawg
    • Correction: There is a very brief shot in the background of Chubs and Happy talking where you can see the little boy is plugging the machine back in. - padah
    • Correction: He was hit with BASEBALLS, not golf balls, moron. Since when do they shoot golf balls out of a ball launcher? - Just Me
  • When Happy is showing off to get money at the golf practice place, Happy hits the ball into the background, when disappearing in to the back it clearly hits a fake wall and it shakes. - ratboy
    • Correction: It's not a fake wall that the ball hits, it's a net so the balls don't go into the road. Almost every driving range in any kind of city has them. Watch the movie and make sure it's a goof before submitting. - mbmott21
