- When Doc Brown is about to make his turning
to the hill valley (in the future) he says
"here's our exit" and turns the
steering wheel to the left, but when the camera
shows the car it moves to the right. - [S]isq[o]
- Near the end of the movie when Marty and
Biff are in the tunnel, at one point Biff
gains a rear view mirror. - corndog
- In the scene where old Biff goes back to
give his younger self the almanac, we see
young Biff picking up his car from the garage
after repairs. The tow truck sitting just
ahead of Biff's car has taillights from an
early 70's Chevrolet van on it, yet the scene
is set in 1955. - Al
- (Plot holes) When Marty and the doc return
to the alternate 1985 they are unaware of
the changes at first but they should know
what the present is like because Biff received
the sports book in 1955 and so Marty would
have been born into the alternate reality
and doc would have witnessed things change.
And also everybody else in that reality cant
understand why Marty doesn't seem to remember
why things are the way they are indicating
that Marty was fully aware of them growing
up. - spike
- (Factual errors) Biff is obviously the same
age as Marty coz they were in the same year
at high school (went to dance etc)but how
come 30 years into the future marty is 47
so should biff be...but he is a Grandpa with
a cane and obviously much much older! - chardman
- (Plot holes) There seems to be a big debate
in whether it was possible for Marty and Jennifer
to see their future selves in the future.
The explanation is that hey return back to
1985 and finish their time lines. But, there
is still an error in that their future couldn't
have occurred that way because at the end
of BTTF3, Marty avoids the accident with the
rolls royce that ruins their lives in the
future. - Franky
- (Plot holes) In BTTF2, Old Biff goes back
to 1955 to give young Biff the Almanac. But
then it shows Old Biff going back to original
2015 and he should have been going back alternate
2015. Which would make the time machine never
get back to Doc and Marty in original 2015,
and they would have just disappeared in the
regular 2015 along with everything else. -

- In "Back to the Future 1" Marty
can only travel in time if the DeLorean is
struck by lightening AND is traveling 88mph
at the same time. But in part 2 the car travels
back to the old west after being hit by lightening
only. It is not traveling fast but merely
hovering in a storm. - Dave
- Comment: Dave
it doesn't have to be going 88 miles an
hour Doc explains in Back to the Future
3 when he states the the lightning activated
the time circuits (which is false he bumped
the circuits but he didn't know so to
him it makes sense). The 1.21 jigawatts
activated the flux capacitor and sent
him back. - ash
- Correction:
Actually in Back to the Future III,
the Doc states that the lightning
spun the wheels up to the speed of
88 miles per hour, hence the DeLorean
being sent back in time when it was
struck. There are two elements required
for a time jump-- a speed of 88 mph
and enough power to activate the flux
capacitor. In this case, the lightning
accomplished both of those things,
since the DeLorean was flying and
the wheels, because they were not
grounded, were spun by the lightning.
This also explains the pair of flame
trails that look like backwards "9's,"
that appear in the sky right after
the time jump. - BenBigwig

- (Revealing mistakes) In the scene where
Griff and his bunch are chasing Marty on the
hoverboards, and crash into the clock tower...as
they're flying up into the air toward the
glass, anyone can see they're being lifted
up, not by gravity. - JP
- Correction:
This is not a mistake. There is a quick
cut of the gang's hoverboards activating
in midair, so what happened is that the
gang was dragged through the air by their
hoverboards. They were not supposed to
just be "falling." - BenBigwig

Goofs
- In back to the future part II, Marty goes
into the future to see himself--but this is
paradoxical. He leaves the timeline in 1985,
and so, to the rest of us without time machines,
Marty has disappeared. Therefore, when he
arrives in 2015, he shouldn't be there--should
he? He disappeared 30 years ago, a la close
encounters of the third kind. While it is
possible to back in time to see yourself,
it is theoretically impossible to go forward
in time to see yourself. - albanyhog
- Explanation:
Marty going into the future isn't paradoxical,
since he returns to 1985. He still finishes
his timeline into the future. If he didn't
return to 1985, it would become a paradox.
Just one school of thought on time travel.

- OLD Biff Tannen goes back in time to give
his past self a book on future sports scores.
This changes Marty's present, so that when
he returns from his future he ends up in a
place where his Mum married Biff, his dad
died, etc. Now Doc explains that they can't
go to The Future as their timeline has already
changed, and they'd go into this alternative
1985's future. In that case how did Old Biff
end up back in normal 1985's future? We see
him return Doc's DeLorean and stagger away
from it, breathing hard. If he had given Young
Biff that book he should have traveled into
an alternative future, not this original one!
- Jagannatha
- Correction:
This is a possible correction to the argument
as to how Marty and Doc can remain in
the real 2015 even after Biff ha went
and gave himself the magazine and changed
the course of time. Marty and Doc would
remain in the real 2015 because they have
already fixed the problem in the past.
When they return to the alternate 1985
and realize the problem they leave for
1955. At the point they leave 1985 to
go to 1955 time from the point they leave
and forward is instantaneously returned
to normal because in 1985 they have already
corrected time 30 years earlier. Thus
when they were leaving 2015 time has already
been corrected 30 years earlier. The only
thing this doesn't explain is why Biff
was in pain when he got out of the DeLorean.
- David
- Explanation:
The reason that Old Biff staggers
away was explained by either Zemeckis
or Gale in an interview (I forget
which), Biff staggers because he has
been erased from the new 2015 , which
answers the first posters question,
it's not the original 2015, it's the
new one. Gale or Zemeckis said that
they originally showed Biff fading
away but that test audiences didn't
understand so they had to cut it.
He also stated that it's possible
everything else around them changed
but we just don't see it. For instance,
Mart and Jen almost certainly don't
live in that house anymore. He also
said that in his mind Lorraine killed
Biff sometime in the 90's. Interesting.
So again, Biffs staggering and fading
proves that it is the alternate 2015
that Marty and Doc have to fix. (VHS)

zombie is right. If you have the
dvd, check out the deleted scenes
and it has old Biff vanishing
from 2015. - Edd
- After Marty returns to 1985 (the alternate
1985) from 2015, when he bumps into the homeless
man, he says some word that doesn't make sense.
Sounds like, "Badgent." -
JP
- Explanation: That
fact about Marty saying something that
doesn't make sense when he runs into the
homeless man isn't true. The "weird"
word that Marty says is the nickname he
gave the man that was said in the 1st
movie. - expert
- At the end of the first movie Lorraine and
George meet Marty after the dance. Lorraine
says "Marty that was very interesting
music" kind of like she enjoyed it. However
at the end of the second movie she says it
differently as if she was confused by it.
- SuperMathia
- Explanation: That
is because they had to re-shoot that scene
because they had it from a different angle
and couldn't get Crispin Glover to be
in the 2nd movie. - expert
